Patrick Barnes

This wasn’t my plan, but, I suppose, how could it have been? I had planned on taking photos of my hometown – Stamford, NY. I was going to show its small town woes, its poverty, the fall from its turn of the century riches. But no one expected Hurricane Irene to hit as hard as it did. And it was hard to believe it until I saw it for myself.

Prattsville, the town 12 miles down the road from my hometown, was gone. What was left of Main Street was condemned and to be knocked down. Nature dealt a powerful deathblow to a town already on its last leg. The aftermath was nothing less than sublime.
